"no fauxrarri, I'll take the SW20"
What. Top Gear literally used these as fake Ferraris in their live show. The SW20 is as close as you can ever get to a car that wants so bad to be a real Ferrari but isn't outside of the Dino.

No competition. I will continue to assume the MR2 is a turbo, because the picture you chose has the turbo only raised engine lid. I also drive one just like it.

Eventually all will know of the greatness of the SW20, and it will be good.
I swear, every week someone new is talking about how great my car is, either on oppo or FP. It's starting to get to my head.

I would take an AW11 or SW20 over a Fiero any day, who would've guessed?

I conceptually prefer the Fiero since it represents what could've been and I really like the RCR video on it.
The MR20 is the second model. It's probably brilliant and such, but the Fiero broke the mold for american car mfg's in a way the MR20 did not for Toyota.
For my own money, the MR20 by miles though.

Yeah, well, I'd choose a Fiero over an MR2 any day of the week based on looks alone. Also you can fit a v8 into the back of a fiero; can't do dat with a stoopid toyoda

All y'all think the MR2 is so superior... Can you fit a v8 in to a stupid toyota?
or turn it into a supercar?
Didn't think so

i've seen more SW20 Fauxrarris than Fiero Fauxrarris, but if you just wanted to make the "Fauxrarri" pun, ok.

well the one pictured is 87. I didn't realize the last year was improved to such an extent over previous years. Now I want one even more.

In GM's infinite wisdom, they finally built the Fiero the way the engineers had originally intended it to be built, only to cancel production the next year. GM: good ideas poorly executed.

I like the fact they prototyped it with v8s and kept some of the underpinnings in the engine bay to accept them. That makes it like the prefect project car, wouldn't you say? I think I'll put "build a v8 fiero" on my bucket list.

It would be interesting to see what a properly built Fiero could actually do.

An LS4 might not be a bad idea. It's an LS that's been shortened to fit in a transverse engine bay and was used on the mid-2000s Grand Prix GXP and Monte Carlo SS amongst others. After a little bit of googling, it seems that a few other people have done this before, including this guy who made a detailed account of his build. The advantage of the LS4 is that it has GM's Active Fuel Management which shuts down half the cylinders on the highway, so you can have your track day Fiero cake and eat it as a DD, too.

well I was half trolling. If I were in the market looking to build a fast RMR, I would pick a fiero based on the looks and the fact they'll accept GM transverse v8s with relative ease (they were prototyped with 'em and the engine bay and mounts will support them).

That's some sweet music, and the lines on the '87 and '88 GTs have aged very well.

V8 swap is great, but with modification the 3S-GTE is capable of more power. Thanks to an iron block, you can throw in forged pistons and run ridiculous levels of boost.

I'm currently hunting a 1988 Fiero GT. And trying to figure out how to explain to the wife how we can make this work with our almost-2-year-old.
Hey. Her car's a Camry. That should be enough. Right?
